Vibo Valentina is situated on the side of the promontory which overlooks the Gulf of St Eufemia. It was one of the most important cities of Magna Grecia, and is now a well known tourist destination, because of its splendid coastline and clean crystal waters.
Here visitors can admire the Norman Svevo Castle which houses the State Archaeological Museum, the Baroque Cathedral dedicated to the Patron Saint Leoluca, and the ruins of the Greek City, Hipponion, which is located just outside the residential area of Vibo Valentia. In the immediate vicinity lies the splendid sea resort of Tropea.
